We invite prospective organizers to submit proposals for special sessions. Topics of interest should be timely and significant to the technical audience, and the speakers need to convey compelling information about the topic. Special Session proposals covering areas related to the theme of MMSP 2014 (IoT Multimedia) are particularly encouraged.
Each Special Session will be two hours long and will usually consist of 4 to 6 oral presentations. Other formats are possible, including panel discussions. Papers solicited for Special Sessions will undergo the same reviewing process by anonymous and independent reviewers as regular papers. It is possible that some invited papers may be rejected. However, this is expected to be a rare case since the organizer should recruit only the high-quality papers to the Special Session. If after the reviewing process less than 4 papers submitted to a Special Session are selected, the Special Session will be cancelled and the papers that passed the review process will be presented within the main technical track of the workshop. Accepted Special Sessions may also be supplemented by high-quality papers from the general pool. Special Session papers will be published together with regular papers in the IEEE proceedings. At least one author for each paper in the Special Session must register for the workshop and present the paper.
The organizer’s role is to invite and get commitments from the speakers, help to coordinate the reviews of the submitted papers, and chair the session itself. A maximum of 3 organizers per Special Session is allowed.
Proposals for Special Sessions must include:
- Title of the Special Session
- Motivation and objective of the special session
- Specific topics of interest
- Contact information and short biography of the Special Session organizer(s)
- List of speakers who have agreed to submit and present a paper in the special session, and a tentative title and abstract of each paper.
Proposals for special sessions should be submitted to Rongshan Yu (email@example.com) and Anthony Vetro (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Feb. 20, 2014. Notification of accepted proposals will be Mar. 1, 2014, while the deadline for paper submission and review are the same as for regular papers (Apr. 4, 2013).
