GUIDELINES FOR LECTURE PRESENTATIONS
Presentation time is 20 minutes, including introductions, questions and switching between presentations, so limit your actual presentation to about 17 minutes. It is important that the sessions remain on time. The session chair is responsible for keeping presentations on schedule. Any setup time you use is part of your overall 20 minute presentation time, so it is a good idea to check your visual aids before the session begins.
You should arrive to the room 15-20 minutes before the session begins to meet with the session chair, who should be near the stage/podium. You should upload your slides to the provided laptop or test your own computer’s connection to the projector in your presentation room before the session.
If you are using your own computer, please bring your own AC adapter. A VGA cable (mini D-sub 15 pin) will be provided to connect your PC to the projector. If your PC is not compatible with the cable connector, please bring an adapter to connect your PC to the VGA cable. If you are unsure about operating the LCD projector on your own computer, it would be best to load your slides onto the provided computer. Delays caused by technical difficulties will disrupt the rest of the presentation schedule. The provided laptop is equipped with Windows 7 and OFFICE 2007.
Powerpoint: Only fonts that are included in the basic installation of MS-Windows will be available (English version of Windows). Use of other fonts not included in Windows can cause the wrong layout/style of your presentation. To avoid problems, embed the font definitions in your presentation: – Click on “File”, then “Save As”; – Check the “Tools” menu and select “Embed True Type Fonts”.
GUIDELINES FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Please hang your poster on the indicated poster board during the break before your poster session.
For your poster, a board will be provided which measures approximately 2 m high by 1 m wide. Push tacks or double-side tape will be provided at the workshop to mount your poster to the board.
